The program, Greater Accra Family Symposium with the theme; The Family and Household Assistant Win-Win Relationship, was organized by The Beacon Family and held on 2nd April, 2016 at the Unity Assemblies of God, Haatso. The Beacon Family is a not-for-profit social organization that focuses on building stronger families for a better society.
This is done by partnering families through programs, trainings and events. The Greater Accra Family Symposium is a regional and quarterly event and one of the major programs organized by the Beacon Family to sensitize the public and families on the need to build healthy relationships to strengthen the society. The focus for this quarter’s event was to address challenges and confrontations that both families and family assistants face. Seasoned speakers delivered insightful presentations to help scale up the almost unhealthy relationships between families and family assistants.
The health of families is very crucial to their development, hence, our quest to promote good health. In this regard, the event also witnessed the launch of a hand wash campaign dubbed; The Beacon National Proper Hand Wash Campaign. A well detailed proper hand wash poster was launched at the event to be distributed nationwide. This campaign is endorsed by the Ministry of Health. The event was a success and much credence goes to all who were actively involved.
The event started at 1:30pm with prayer by Rev. Nii Mensah of Haatso Presbyterian Church. Dr. Kwame Bansah, District pastor, Unity Assemblies of God introduced the program and gave the welcome address. A brief description about the Beacon Family (TBF) was given by Mr. Emmanuel Kyere-Frempong, CEO MemCons after which he introduced the first speaker Mr. Amos KevinAnnan.
Mr. Kevin-Annan, an outspoken youth pastor, married counselor and life coach, spoke on; Family, the Foundation of Society. Dominant in his presentation was the unfortunate inaction of the church in helping build better families for a better society.
His presentation was followed by Parents Role in uniting the family and the household Assistants by Mrs. Joyce Boa Amponsem, a counselor at the Helpers of your Joy fame of Sweet Melodies. She admonished parents to consider family assistants as members of their families. Drawing examples from her own relationship with her family assistants, she urged parents to make family

Mrs. Bertha Kyere-Frempong, founder of The Beacon Family addressed the topic; Position of the Household Assistant. With her long experience in this field, she elaborated on the value and impact of Family assistants. She posited that, children are mostly influenced by family assistants since they mostly spend more time with them. She therefore advised on whom to be taken as a family assistant.
